Victoria Mills, Shipley

Newmason Properties commissioned me in 2006 to create a work that showed the historical Victoria Mills before renovations were completed for residential living in their next stage development. I was drawn to the smaller school building seen in the painting with its bell attached. The smaller building functioned as an integrated hub for the mill workers, dropping off their children in the morning and picking them up after work. It also functioned as a medical point for births and illness during the working day.
