Wendy in her studio with Jimmy

Review – Bright side!

If you’re looking for bright, bold, honest and expressive work, Wendy’s paintings are full of vivid and contrasting colours, often painted with strong bold lines. Her use of oil paints is vibrant and emotional, immersing the viewer in whimsical and enchanting landscape settings.

The longer you look at Wendy’s work the further you will be taken on an intriguing, fantastical and personal journey.

When Wendy paints her surroundings, it’s not just a scene, it’s unique, special and precious to her. It’s a space she cherishes with refelections of an environment constantly changing, each minute, hour, season and year interlaced with Wendy’s own feelings. She embraces and celebrates each new work with her bright palette, her confident use of  bold colours and decorative mark making and layering, giving a unique view, a space full of energy and vibrancy no matter the weather or season.

Just like Wendy’s earlier portraiture work, she applies different layers of colour giving a depth to her urban and landscapes paintings. Inanimate objects, like buildings feel alive, giving a sense of a vibrant environment a living urban life.

Wendy has exhibited in solo and group shows, curated and facilitated various community art exhibitions and art projects in the UK and in Australia. Wendy has coordinated community project work with primary and high school kids, as well as developed, created and taught art courses, designed and built theatre sets in Leeds,  Perth and Sydney.

Wendy’s work is included in private and corporate collections and public art commissions for the Peel Health Campus, Western Australia and for NHS Bromley Trust which is shown on www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings website in partnership with the Public Catalogue Foundation.
